The Indiana University Department of Botany and Geology was established within the College of Arts and Sciences in 1885. The department has had several name changes throughout the years, including the Dept. of Geology, but today it is known as the Department of Geological Sciences. The records in this collection date from John B. Patton’s tenure as chair, and consists of general subject files and records related to departmental projects funded by the National Science Foundation. Prominent in the collection are files on the Research Participation Program for College Teachers.
